Order of St. John meets in Austin, donates to Round Rock nonprofit

AUSTIN, Texas — The Order of St. John held its quarterly meeting Saturday in Austin, bringing together members in person and online to discuss the organization’s future, including recruitment efforts and community support initiatives.

Several members attended the meeting in person, while others joined virtually as the group reviewed ongoing operations and outlined plans for growth. A key topic of discussion focused on expanding membership and increasing public awareness of the order.

“With the new OSJ website and the launch of our Facebook page, the public will be able to see our order,” said Cendy Antley. “By doing that, we can connect with and vet like-minded individuals who are interested in joining.”

In addition to organizational matters, the group emphasized its commitment to community service. During the meeting, the order raised $350, which was donated to the Round Rock Area Serving Center.

The nonprofit provides a wide range of services to residents in need, including a food pantry, clothing and furniture vouchers, financial assistance for rent and utilities, and programs supporting seniors, veterans and families in crisis. Other initiatives include the Keep Round Rock Warm program, community gardens, a volunteer center and a resale store that helps fund charitable efforts.

According to the organization, its food pantry distributed approximately 1.5 million pounds of food to qualified clients, with a focus on increasing access to fresh fruits and vegetables. Programs such as the Amazon Home Delivery service, which assists seniors, veterans and disabled residents across most of Williamson County, and the Fresh Food for Families program in partnership with the Central Texas Food Bank, aim to improve food accessibility for vulnerable populations.

Community gardens operated with the help of Williamson County Master Gardeners also contribute thousands of pounds of fresh produce each year to support local families.

“Our mission is to support families in crisis, and we depend on the community’s support to continue caring for those in need,” the organization said.

The Order of St. John said it plans to continue its outreach efforts while growing membership and strengthening its role in supporting charitable causes across Central Texas.
